PYROGRAPHY - My First Practice Burn
02/02/22
It started off as just a hobby, until it took a quick turn. Little did I know that I would be pretty good at wood burning and the more I did it, the better I would become. I have always loved to draw and enjoyed designing. Unfortunately, there was no Drawing/Art School that I could study at, so I graduated with an Associate's Degree in Digital Media Design.
Shortly after, I was hired at the job I aimed for and for 3 years I was employed at a local newspaper called The Monitor.
Pyrography just makes me so happy. It started slow to figure out my groove and it has become so much more.
I have realized that with each project, I learn new ideas with new techniques which makes each one special and unique. This piece to my left is my very first project, which had to be divided into a few weeks. It took 31 hours to complete, probably even more with all the trial and error involved.
My husband is a Lineman, so I did it in his honor and all the Lineman out there. They are among the first to go out after a natural disaster to fix lines and restore the power needed for medical facilities, businesses and residences.
This features a Lineman with a scenery of the mountains and waterfall in the background. AH!! Don't forget about the deer. They might be small but they are there.
Never would have dreamt something great would come out of this, but it has. I do not see this hobby as a job. Like the saying goes, "If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life."
So far I have done over 20 projects, way more than I would ever thought of doing. I absolutely love wood burning and seeing the joy in the eyes of people once I hand over their piece. Holding onto it forever, but with a little something extra.
In each stamp there is a special meaning behind it
